Design for the Troop logo was started in spring of 2004 by David Larson (ASM in 2004) when the Scouts were asked what they wanted their neckerchiefs to look like. The Scouts provided the initial design which was then submitted to Keith Roberts of Zenman Productions, Inc. to prepare a digital image. About 40 different designs prepared by Keith were reviewed by the Scouts and adult leaders. The Troop is indebted to Keith for the time and effort that he put into the logo.

In the fall of 2004 the digital image of the logo was sent to printing for both neckerchiefs and t-shirts.

What does the T.S. stand for?
T.S. are the initials of Timmy Sowders. Timmy joined Troop 628 in the Spring of 2004 after graduating from Pack 783 as a Webelo. On May 24th, 2004 Timmy and his twin brother Nate were traveling with their mother Kristen when their car was rear-ended in a hit-and-run accident. Timmy did not survive.

Boy Scouts and Scouters of Troop 628 and Cub Scouts from Pack 783 paid homage to Timmy and his family by performing a Boy Scout flag ceremony to start the funeral. The ceremony included the Pledge of Allegiance, Scout Oath and Scout Law. The flags were brought in by Eagle Scouts Alex Shilling, Mitchell Nakagawa and Nicholas McGrath with Grant Nakagawa (Life Scout in 2004) calling the commands. Ryan Mansfield (Scout rank at the time) read a well received eulogy.

During the funeral the Spirit of the Eagle Award and Timmy's Scout badge were presented to Timmy's family by Scoutmaster Phil Hildenbrand.
